My family came to visit me here in
Deutschland during my brothers' spring break. I haven't seen them for
three months and I won't see them for four more months. First we hung out
in Munich a little, I showed them my apartment and where I worked and my
parents visited with old friends. Then we drove south and visited with my
grandma and uncle and then we went west to Freiburg, the town where my
parents met. There we did a little sight seeing in town and in the Black
Forest and Heather met up with us. And then a week later we came back to
Munich and my parents left.

On our first day we hung out in down town Munich. This is Lukas in
front of the town hall.

There was a standard weekly anti-war protest in the main square and they
were waving Iraqi flags, which I found peculiar.

The next day we met with a bunch of my parents friends and went to a
modern art museum. That is Ralf sitting there, he came too. He lived with
us for a year 10 years ago. Ralf is a rad guy.

We then went to a beer garden in the English Garden for lunch.

The next day we went to visit my uncle at his hotel in Oberstaufen. I led
my brothers on a massive hike through the hills there. It was April Fool's
day and someone removed all the boards from the benches as a joke.

We found a hunting blind in a tree so I climbed it.

We climbed a 'strenuous' hill

The day before it was so sunny and warm we went hiking with our shirts
off. The next day we had to leave and it was snowing. My family with my
uncle.

On the way to Freiburg we went through the black forest and there was lots
of new snow

Sasha is currently studying in Freiburg and we met up with her for dinner
one night. We would have hung out more but she left to go skiing in Davos.

The next day Heather arrived and we explored some winery towns outside of
Freiburg with my family

30 years ago my dad studied physics in Freiburg. As we arrived in this
little town my dad pointed out a house right underneath the castle on the
other side of that hill. He said the professor that he did his thesis with
lived in that house. As we were walking around the town he randomly bumped
into that professor. My dad was happy.

Heather and I hiked the church in Freiburg. Here is me standing underneath
the steeple.

On the way back to Munich we explored the Black Forest and we went to a
clock museum. Here is Heather and I being Cuckoos. |
