Pictures from the last two days of the Santa Cruz trek and lake 69.

What a good looking hiker.

What a good looking dog.

"Anybody need to take a shower?" --Richard

One of my favorite glaciers.

Go donkeys Go!

That is Heather standing behind that sign.

Perro was an expert at finding bones, he even found an entire horse carcass once complete with rotting flesh. Here is Perro chewing on a vertebrae.

This tree is unique to the region in which we were hiking.

A green mountain near our third camp site.

On our fourth day we hiked through some small farming villages.

We had to take a car to get to the last portion of the hike. This was the view from our tent the night before, unfortunately inclement weather moved in and we never saw the mountain again.

We hiked to lake 69, a glacier lake at the base of the above mountain. It was at 15,000 feet, it rained on most of the hike, and at the lake it was snowing, it is kind of hard to tell in the picture. But hopefully the blueness of the lake comes through in the picture.

Andres, who owns Andean Kingdom (www.andeankingdom.com), organized our excellent trek for us. He picked us up in his well used land cruiser. We drove for two hours on a steep mountain dirt rode. His driving was somewhat out of control (see the video below) and he eventually broke the radiator. Andres said, "some rock broke my radiator." We stopped in Yungay (click here for an interesting story about Yungay) to try to get the vehicle fixed to no avail. So we made it back to Huaraz using other methods.
